The intake filter protects the compressor from dust that scores rotors and blocks coolers. A clogged filter raises energy use and shortens component life. Here is how to inspect and clean it.
Inspection
- Remove the filter and hold it to a light to check blockage.
- Look for holes, tears or collapsed pleats.
- Replace if damaged or saturated with dust.
Cleaning
- Blow clean compressed air from the inside out.
- Never wash a paper filter with liquid.
- Wipe the housing and seal before refitting.
Replacement Interval
- Replace per the service schedule, or sooner in dusty environments.
- Use the correct grade and size of filter element.
How do I know the filter is clogged?
A visible dust layer, rising inlet vacuum or a service alarm indicates the filter needs attention.
