The safety valve opens to protect the system from overpressure. If it keeps popping, the pressure is too high or the valve itself is faulty.
Why It Pops
- System pressure exceeds the valve setting.
- A faulty pressure switch does not stop the motor.
- The valve is damaged or set too low.
Diagnosis
- Compare the pressure gauge with the valve rating.
- Check the cut-out pressure setting.
- Inspect the valve for leaks or damage.
Fixes
- Reduce the cut-out setting if too high.
- Replace a faulty pressure switch.
- Replace a damaged safety valve with the correct rating.
Can I run with the safety valve popping?
No. The valve is doing its job. Find and fix the overpressure cause immediately.
